On Dec. 24, at approximately 4:40 a.m., deputies with the Pima County Sheriff’s Department Foothills District responded to Ina Road and Avenida De Lisa reference a crashed vehicle. Upon arrival, they found a Jeep Cherokee that had gone off the roadway and hit a Palo Verde tree.

Investigators with the Sheriff’s Traffic Unit responded to the scene. They did not find any skid marks or other indicators that the Jeep attempted to prevent the collision. It appeared the vehicle was driving at or below the speed limit. Alcohol did not appear to be a factor.

The driver and single occupant of the Jeep Cherokee was identified as 46-year-old Thomas Lorock. Mr. Lorock was transported to University of Arizona Medical Center where he was later pronounced deceased.

The investigation continues.
