Mickey Nugent, who’s directed or choreographed more than 100 shows from New York to California, is the new drama teacher at Green Fields County Day School.
Nugent has starred in the national tours of Cats and Grease and in Crazy For You at the Walnut Street Theatre in Philadelphia. His favorite roles include Cosmo Brown in Singin’ in the Rain and Will Parker in Oklahoma. He previously taught at Green Fields from 2003 to 2005.
Nugent also has served as adjunct professor of theatre arts for Pima Community College since 2004, where most recently he worked on Curtains the Musical. He’s also been a dance/movement workshop instructor at Canyon el Oro High School, Desert View High School and in the Tucson Unified School District. He attended North Central Michigan College and graduated from St. Bonaventure University in New York.
Locally Nugent has performed and choreographed for the Invisible Theatre and Arizona Onstage. He also choreographed the Music Man, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying and Carousel for the University of Arizona.
