I had such a great time this last weekend competing in the “Greatest Athlete” Decathlon! It was just what I needed to put my abilities, and weaknesses, into perspective.
I am very happy to say that I came in first in my age group and second overall! If someone had told me I would have done that well, I think I would have laughed at them. But that’s what I mean about putting my abilities into perspective. I have come so far since I started this challenge 8 months ago. I could barely walk then but I kept pace with the 16 year olds during the 12 minute run!
However, the same thing goes for weaknesses. I have discovered that my biggest weakness, by far, is core. I could barely hold the plank for the 2.5 minutes I made it and my sit-ups were not much for competition. So now I know that maybe I should put a little more focus into this area.
Thing I learned this week: I should have a little more confidence in myself. I’m a lot stronger and can endure more than I thought.
