Dieting is such a difficult and confusing task. On the surface it is simple; if calories in is less than calories out, you will lose weight. I wish it were that simple though.
First of all, 3500 calories equals one pound. But I know I am not the only one to notice that you work really hard at working out and limiting yourself on what you eat to see that precious one pound loss. But, it seems much easier than eating an extra 3500 calories to gain a pound. If I even look at a Dairy Queen sign I will see the results on the scale! This is an example of caloric inequality.
Here’s the other thing. If you eat too little, you will gain weight. Of course, this is the result of slowing your metabolism down as a result of a faked “starvation mode.” But it seems so counterintuitive. This is where I find myself tonight. Where typically I am trying to figure out the least caloric options for dinner, tonight I am trying to find 300-500 more calories to eat. I don’t want to fill it with junk either, but that’s a lot of fruit.
I guess it’s just a little funny to me how such a simple statement of “calories in less than calories out” really has so many other levels to it.
