Fitness Challenge - Catherine Reynolds

It’s time for a little honesty/reality check. In the four and a half months or so that I have been doing this challenge, I have lost about 18 pounds and close to 6% body fat, which I am very happy about. But, I guess I had been hoping, and so had my trainer, that the numbers would have been bigger by now.

Here is where my struggle comes in. I truly believe that the biggest reason these numbers are not bigger is because of my diet. I’m trying very hard to find some type of diet that works with my lifestyle (which is absolutely chaotic and unpredictable), and one that balances the needs of my goal. I am on the go all the time, literally, and barely have time to even think about getting to the grocery store. I do enjoy to cook but unfortunately do not have extended periods of time for food prep. I know it sounds like an excuse, but honestly, it’s not. Even on the go though, I do bring healthy snacks, make healthy choices if I have to eat out, and try to pack homemade meals so I can avoid prepackaged food. I do feel discouraged though because even though I feel like I’m doing to the right thing, apparently it’s not enough.

I feel like in order to accomplish anything dietary wise, I am going to have to make a total sacrifice; meaning not sharing meals with my family, no social celebrations, and a very strict day-to-day almost snacking only diet. But I’m not sure these are the dietary habits I want. So my newest quest begins…

Thing I learned this week: 1) Even though I feel discouraged, it does not mean I can give up. This just means I need to think of new ways to accomplish my goals.
