Another puppy has been turned over to the Humane Society of Southern Arizona after being found in a park trashbcan.
Three weeks ago Oscar, a then-8-week-old, was found wrapped in a plastic bag and abandoned in a trash can at Reid Park. Oscar’s story has a happy ending; he was adopted yesterday.
But on the same day Oscar found a home, a second puppy came in. It was discovered in a trash can at Kennedy Park on Monday, and a kind couple took her from the park employees who found her. They delivered the frail pup, since named Kennedy, to the HSSA. This one was in much worse shape than Oscar had been. The 9-week-old chocolate mixed-breed arrived severely emaciated, dehydrated and very hungry.
HSSA Animal Cruelty Investigator Michael Duffey immediately filed a report and 88-CRIME has offered a $1,000 reward for information leading to an arrest. Animal abandonment is a crime and this case is particularly cruel given the lack of basic care provided to the dog.
