Founder and a Master Pilates Teacher, Kyria Sabin, established Body Works Pilates in Tucson in 1993. Arizona is one of the only states that have a licensed teacher program in the practice of Pilates. This, plus a staff that takes their job seriously, makes Body Works Pilates full of a staff with experience and licensed training.
“It is a rather stringent process,” said Sabin. “We take what we do seriously.”
Pilates sessions are offered in either private or semi-private classes. The private classes are for those who have specific issues that they want addressed while semi-private classes normally have four people per class. A class of four people is called a COREtet.
The classes teach individuals about their body and the practice of Pilates in which they start with a warm up, then the body of the class, and the cool down. Focus is drawn to balance, strength, and the lengthening of muscles. By lengthening muscles, individuals will experience less pain in their body and will help to release any pressure or strain on their joints.
Body Works Pilates serves the community through teaching people about how to better care for and strengthen their bodies.
