Marana businessman Errol Quinn, EA, visited the offices of Rep. Terri Proud (Dist. 26), Sen. Al Melvin (Dist. 26) and Sen. Frank Antenori (Dist. 30) on Jan. 20 to discuss the nonconformity issues of tax season 2009. Arizona did not fully conform to the changes made to the federal tax code for tax year 2009 and the non-conformity legislation was not passed until after the April 15 due date for 2009 Arizona state returns. Quinn is working to prevent post-tax deadline amendments.
“This kind of last-minute change makes it difficult for taxpayers to plan ahead and imposes the burden of filing an amended state return,” Quinn said.
Quinn, who prepares taxes in the Marana area, holds the enrolled agent (EA) designation, an IRS-administered license that allows the licensee to represent taxpayers who are under audit or owe back taxes, in addition to tax planning and preparation.
