Jessica and Jared Burns bought Fruit Shack, located at First and Oracle roads near Home Depot last November.
“We are determined to offer the exceptional customer service that only a small family business can offer, and we promise that our smoothies and yogurt are the best in town,” said the couple.
Fruit Shack Smoothies & Yogurt specializes in fruit smoothies and frozen yogurt. The smoothies contain fruit juice, sherbet, crushed ice and real fruit, without syrups, added sugars or other additives. The yogurt is non-fat and rich with calcium, protein and vitamins D and B. Free samples are encouraged.
The business sells more and more wheat grass shots, made from locally grown, certified organic wheat.
Fruit Shack also sells Bavarian-style gourmet pretzels, jumbo Hebrew National pretzel dogs, and various grab-and-go items such as gluten-free chips, Greek yogurt bars and mixed nuts.
Fruit Shack has a mobile smoothie van available for events and fundraisers. They are proud supporters of Ironwood Ridge High School, where daughter Noelle is a sophomore.
The couple moved to Tucson in 2012. While searching for a new job, Jessica came across a manager’s position at Fruit Shack. She learned the business was for sale. The couple took the chance, invested their savings and bought the business.
The store is open 7 a.m. - 9 p.m. Monday-Friday, and 8 a.m. - 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
