Award recipients, outgoing and incoming board members, corporate partners and volunteers are among the honored at the 2010 Northern Pima County Chamber of Commerce annual meeting and awards breakfast next Thursday, Aug. 26.
Tickets are available for the event, to be held at the Hilton El Conquistador.
The chamber presents two major awards, its Legacy and Community Leader honors, as well as recognizing the outstanding micro business (3 or fewer employees), small business (4-25 employees), mid-size business (26-49 employees) and non-profit of the year, according to president and chief executive officer Ramon Gaanderse. Steve Ochoa of KOLD is hosting the awards presentations.
Tom Thaller of M&I Bank, the current board chairman, hands the responsibilities over to new chairman JR Johnson of New York Life Insurance. They are joined on the executive committee by Andy Keating, chairman-elect, of Andy Keating, CPA; Lynn Ericksen, treasurer, of the Hilton El Conquistador; and Keri Ruffell, secretary, of Signature Skincare.
Four new board members take office Thursday. They are Sarah Adams of Bedmart, Jill Casson Owen of Casson Owen Law, Paul Evans of The Keg Steakhouse and Bar, and Colin Keating of Edward Jones. Those four assume the seats held by Melanie Larson of L&B Design, Jeff Jones of Interior Expressions, Tom Pitzer of American Family Insurance and Monnie Applegate of Healthnet.
The chamber has also hired a new events director, Gaanderse said Monday. Ruth Geier started in the position Monday. She succeeds Cecelia Smith.
