No Fruit Left Behind at Tohono Chul

Chances are a nearby neighbor has a citrus tree in the backyard producing more fruit than they can use each year. They’re not alone. In backyards all over Tucson, thousands of pounds of fruits, vegetables, nuts and even edible weeds are going to waste.

Iskashitaa Refugee Network identifies, harvests, redistributes and processes these local food resources to feed families instead of landfills. During this class, you will learn how to harvest the fruits of the desert.

The class will be held on Saturday, Feb. 23, starting at 10 a.m. at Tohono Chul Park, located at 7366 North Paseo Del Norte. It is $4 for members and $8 for general public.
