Shoe drive at OV eatery
An Oro Valley restaurant is collecting shoes for the holidays.
Carrabba’s Italian Grill is asking its guests to bring in any new pair of children’s shoes, for youngsters up to age 12. They’ll receive a $10 customer appreciation card for each pair donated.
The shoe drive runs through Dec. 23. Shoes can be dropped off at Carrabba’s, 7635 N. Oracle Road.
“We are hoping to receive 500 pairs of shoes,” a spokeswoman said. Customer appreciation cards are good at Oro Valley location only and do not expire.
‘Spectacular’ times at Oro Valley shopping center
Art activities, scavenger hunts, entertainment and live Christmas caroling are being presented on holiday weekends at the Oracle Crossings shopping center in Oro Valley.
The first-ever Oracle Crossings Holiday Spectacular is presented by the Southern Arizona Arts and Cultural Alliance and the shopping center. Children can create crafts and participate in games, while parents receive discounts from Oracle Crossings merchants.
The spectacular is open each weekend in December, to include Saturdays, Dec. 4, 11 and 18, and Sunday, Dec. 26, from 12 to 4 p.m. There is live entertainment. Each day will feature a different show for children, including Santa Claus appearances, face painters, children’s art activities, balloon twisters and more. Holiday scavenger hunt cards are available, with weekly drawings for Oracle Crossings gift baskets valued at $500.
