With one dissenting vote, the Marana Town Council has decided to amend the Silverbell Road Corridor Overlay District land development agreement.

Councilman Russell Clanagan cast the lone vote against, because the changes would allow a restaurant to serve alcohol later into the night. Grumpy's Jr. Grill on Silverbell Road has a restaurant beverage license, and can serve food and alcohol until 11 p.m., according to Marana Planner Kevin Kish. With the adoption of a resolution to amend the land development code, the restaurant can serve later than 11.

"I don't think those hours should be changed in that development," Clanagan said at the town council's May 5 meeting.

"If a true bar wanted to come in … they would still require a conditional use permit, and would have to go through a public hearing process," Kish said.
