Hughes Federal Credit Union has begun two new youth and money financial clubs geared toward helping kids “learn how to manage money and have fun doing it,” a release said.

Children up to age 11 can participate in the Howie Javalena All Stars Club. Young people ages 12-17 can sign up for the Hughes Teen Scene Club.

“Both clubs are interactive and focus on developing good money management habits at an early age,” the release said.

“It's understood that good money management habits start at an early age,” said Kellie Terhune Neely, vice president of marketing. “We wanted to create good programs for kids at different ages that will reward them for saving, keep them interested in saving and challenge them to set goals.”

Along with the launch of the new kids and teens programs, Hughes has a new section on its website, www.hughesfcu.org, called “Youth and Money.” The new web site is interactive, with games and calculators that kids, young adults and even their parents can use including financial education and podcasts.
