Official days to fly the flag in June are:  Flag Day/Army Day – Saturday, June 14; Fathers’ Day – Sunday, June 15.

June dates of interest: Battle for the Aleutian Islands (Alaska) begins – June 3, 1942; Battle of Midway begins – June 4, 1942; 70th Anniversary of D-Day – 6 June 1944; 239th Birthday of the U.S. Army – June 14; GI Bill signed – June 22, 1944; Korean War starts – June 25, 1950.

Flag Day is Saturday, June 14.  It was on this day in 1777 that the Continental Congress replaced the British symbol of the Grand Union Flag with a new flag with a new design featuring 13 white stars in a circle on a field of blue and 13 red and white stripes.  Flag Day is also a traditional day to respectfully retire old flags.  Boy Scout Troop 306 and Cub Scout Pack 306 will be holding a respectful flag retirement ceremony in the parking lot in from AMVETS Post 770 on Saturday, June 14, at 11 a.m.  If you have a flag that needs to be respectfully retired, please bring it to the AMVETS Post on June 14, a little before 11 a.m.  You will be allowed to respectfully retire your own flag.

The AMVETS Post and Clubroom are open from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. or earlier/later (bartender’s discretion) Monday through Saturday.

On Sundays, when breakfast is served, the Post and Clubroom open at 9 a.m.  Happy Hour is from Monday to Friday, 11 a.m. to noon and 2 to 4 p.m.

Be sure to check the bulletin board on the front of the Post for the Weekly Menu and Activities.  Then come on in and join us for food, fun, and your favorite beverage.

The AMVETS Post meets the first Sunday of each month at 10 a.m. There will not be a Post meeting due to the Department Convention.  The Ladies Auxiliary usually meets the second Sunday of each month at 9:30 a.m. They go dark June, July, and August.

The Sons Of AMVETS meets at 6 p.m. the Monday following the Post’s monthly meeting.  Their June meeting is on June 2.

The AMVETS Post 770 Riders Club meets the second Saturday of each month at 10 a.m.  They go dark June, July and August.
