The two-day “Sustainability and Energy Exp09 – Building a Better Community” is being presented March 6-7 at the Tucson Convention Center.
The event, which drew more than 4,000 visitors a year ago, features a film festival, panel discussions with national and regional experts, workshops and a display of alternative vehicles, including the University of Arizona solar car. Visitors can learn about alternative fuels, solar power technologies, sustainable living, green building and rainwater harvesting, according to a release from the event sponsor, the Pima Association of Governments. There are raffle prizes, and more than 90 exhibits.
A special residential solar workshop is being held Saturday, March 7, at 8:45 a.m. in the Maricopa and Mohave meeting rooms.
Chris Paine, writer and director of the film “Who Killed the Electric Car,” is a keynote speaker, addressing participants at 12:30 p.m. Saturday. Paine’s film centers upon the demise of General Motors’ EV-1 all-electric vehicle. He is working on a sequel, “Revenge of the Electric Car.”
Expo hours are 3-7 p.m. March 6 and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. March 7.
