While Rillito Racetrack prepares to finish its 2010 season, the track's supporters continue their fight to keep the historical track open into the future.
"We hope the Board of Supervisors will see to it that it remains a Tucson historical attraction for years to come," writes Mark White, track superintendent. "The track has been here 60-plus years, and should be here for another 60 or more."
"As many of you are aware, the preservation of this facility is paramount," writes Historic Rillito Racetrack, the non-profit led by William Matthews, Ed Moore and Kurt Luscomb. "The Rillito Racetrack is an important part of Tucson's history and needs to be maintained as a viable concern."
The non-profit organization is asking for people to help. Its Web site is www.saverillitoracetrack.com.
