Since the creation of Hollywood, cinema has shared a special relationship with Broadway. Some favorite musical classics created for the big screen often find their way to the Broadway stage and others from the stage to the screen.

Join the Arizona Rose Theatre Company in celebrating crossover hits like “Chicago,” “The Producers,” “Hairspray” and “Grease,” during “Broadway Cinema” on June 25 as part of the second annual Theater in the Park.

The free, monthly performances are a joint effort of Arizona Rose Theatre Company and the Town of Marana.

“Broadway Cinema” kicks off the summer-long program Saturday, June 25 at 7:30 p.m. Pre-show entertainments starts around 7 p.m. If this performance is rained out, an alternate will be performed June 26.

The second performance is “Top 40!” It is scheduled for Saturday, July 23 at 7:30 p.m. with a rain date of July 24.

The production will explore some of the familiar and perhaps lesser-known Top 40 hits from the past several decades that have a Broadway connection.

The third and final production is “Summertime Radio Theater.” It is scheduled for Aug. 20 at 7:30 p.m. If this performance is rained out, an alternate will be performed Aug. 21.

As a special treat, the audience will have the opportunity to experience a live radio re-creation in the “Summertime Radio Theater” production. It will offer a variety of entertainment, from music to radio skits and even live sound effects.

All shows will take place at Crossroads at  Silverbell Park, 7548 N. Silverbell Road, near the Wheeler-Taft Abbett, Sr. Library.
