A free ballroom dance workshop for young people ages 8-17 is being presented in the Northwest on Saturday, Aug. 7.

Directors of the Tucson Dance Foundation, a non-profit organization "dedicated to enriching the dance education and performing arts experience of young Tucson artists," have invited international ballroom professional competitor and instructor Radomir Pashev to teach.

There are two workshops — ages 8-11 at 10-11:30 a.m., ages 12-17 at 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. They're being held at Tucson Dance Academy, 4241 W. Ina Rd.

Young dancers who've been studying ballet, tap and jazz can learn a discipline "that's been rapidly increasing in popularity" with exposure on television.

Students should have at least two years of dance instruction. An exception will be made for interested male students who may not have prior dance experience, a release said.

Interested students may call (520) 744-6882 to register.
