Picture lying in a park, the ones you care about surrounding you, wonderful music filling the air as you eat your evening meal. Now, realize you can do this come the end of this month.
The Greater Oro Valley Arts Council’s Riverfront Park Concert Series returns Saturday Feb. 28, beginning at 6:30 p.m.
Over the course of four evenings, all on the last Saturday of the coming months, GOVAC will bring blues, country, steel drums and bluegrass to the ears of the community.
The free concert series, mainly supported by the town of Oro Valley, returns for its eighth season this month.
Kicking the series off this month, GOVAC will play host to the Bryan Dean Trio for an evening of blues.
The trio is comprised of Bryan and Koko Dean, on guitar and bass, respectively, and Ralph Gilmore, who plays the drums.
The band has performed in and around Tucson for the past 20 years and is most known for its ability to take any of the group’s blues-sounding, 300-plus covers and rearrange it for a funk, jazz or rock sound.
The following concert on the line-up for the concert series will be the country band Guilty Bystanders, on March 28. Next will be Calypso night with Jovert, a steel drum band, on April 25. Finishing up the concert series on May 30 will be a bluegrass night with the Desert Bluegrass band.
Concertgoers are encouraged to bring their own dinner along with any non-alcoholic drinks. Refreshments and food will also be available for purchase during each concert.
The concert series will be held at the Canyon del Oro Riverfront Park at 551 W. Lambert Lane. All concerts start at 6:30 p.m.
