Bluegrass on Dove Mountain is Dec. 3
The next bluegrass jam is scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 3, from 6 to 8 p.m. on the patio in the Dove Mountain Retail Center.
The location is at the crossroads of Tangerine Road and Dove Mountain Boulevard in Marana.
Promised music is the "hard-drivin', hand-clapping, toe-tapping, knee-slapping" bluegrass of the Desert Bluegrass Association.
Bring a lawn chair. Admission is free.
Golder Ranch is collecting toys for needy kids
Golder Ranch Fire District is again collecting new, unwrapped toys for needy children this holiday.
Collection boxes can be found at any Golder Ranch fire station as well as various businesses around Oro Valley, Catalina and SaddleBrooke, a release said.
"With the generous donations of our community last year, we were able to help close to 500 kids," it continued. "We expect the need will be great this year, so please help us to make this a happy holiday for all of our area kids."

Northwest is 'stuffing truck' at mall Dec. 4-6
New toys and non-perishable foods are being gathered at Foothills Mall Dec. 4-6, when Northwest Firefighters "Stuff the Fire Truck" to make the holidays happier for families in need.
The annual collection takes place in front of Barnes and Noble all three days from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Toys are being collected for the Family Resource Center. Food donations go to the Marana Food Bank. Cash donations are being split between the two organizations.
Firefighters are also sharing "important holiday safety information," a release said. They're inviting people to "bring the kids out to visit with the firefighters, get an up-close look at fire equipment, and even climb up into the fire truck."
At Mini-Time Machine Museum, it's a 'Wee Winter Wonderland'
The Mini-Time Machine Museum of Miniatures' winter event, "A Wee Winter Wonderland," offers visitors "festive holiday fun" on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 28-Dec. 12.
The museum, specially decorated for the holidays, is offering different holiday themed arts and crafts projects as well as holiday entertainment each weekend.
The schedule is:
Saturday, Nov. 28 – Holiday-themed cards and decorations craft project, 11 a.m.-4 p.m.; the local handbell ensemble, Sonoran Bells, 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Puppeteer Gwen Ray of Hanuman Puppet Theater presents a holiday-themed performance at 12:30 p.m.;
Saturday, Dec. 5 — Ice skating, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. With paid admission to the museum, visitors can pick up a timed ticket to enjoy 20 minutes of ice skating on the 900-square-foot simulated skating pond in the museum parking lot. Ice skates and holiday music are provided. The craft project from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. is decorating a mini Christmas tree, ornament or dreidel. Carolers perform throughout the day.
Saturday, Dec. 12 — Snow globes with mini winter scenes is the craft project, 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Saguaro Old Pueblo Harpers in Arizona performs holiday harp music in the rotunda from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Storyteller Jordan Hill presents Christmas, Hanukkah and winter solstice tales at 3 p.m.
The Mini-Time Machine is located on Camp Lowell Drive just west of Swan. Regular admission rates apply, museum members get in free as part of their membership. General admission is $7, senior (over 65) / military admission is $6, youth (age 4-17) is $5 and children under three get in for free.

Catalina church is opening a preschool
First Baptist Church, Catalina is now accepting child enrollment for a pre-kindergarten program.
The program is designed to be a service to parents who would like to place 3- and 4-year-old children into a learning environment that focuses on language skills through phonics, fine motor skills and social skills.
