Golfers and tennis players can "swing for the arts" Friday, June 19, when the Greater Oro Valley Arts Council puts on fund-raising tournaments at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club at Dove Mountain.
"Help us preserve the arts," said GOVAC, the non-profit organization that presents events, festivals and programs, supports students, artists and arts advancement, and educates through programs and partnerships.
The tournament gives people a chance to play at the new Ritz-Carlton Dove Mountain facilities, site of the 2009 World Golf Championships Accenture Match Play championship. The Jack Nicklaus Signature course tucks into the Tortolita Mountains.
The best-ball golf tournament is a 7:30 a.m. shotgun start. Entries are $150 per individual and $525 for a foursome that covers a barbecue lunch, cart fees, a goodie bag and greens fees.
Mixed doubles, round-robin tennis gets going at 9 a.m. Entries are $60 for an individual and $100 for doubles teams, with lunch, a goodie bag and tennis fees covered.
Signature sponsorships are also available.
