New Orleans jazz has a way of taking listeners back in time. On Saturday, July 16, this style of jazz – performed by the River Road Ramblers – will create a fun atmosphere in the courtyard at La Encantada for a free concert.
The River Road Ramblers have brought New Orleans jazz music to Tucson for six years. The band is made up of eight experienced musicians on trumpet, clarinet, tenor sax, trombone, guitar, piano, bass and drums. They perform a mix of Roaring ‘20s, ‘30s, ‘40s, and ‘50s Dixieland jazz in true Mardi Gras style.
La Encantada Summer Concert Series creates a fun, outdoor atmosphere in a beautiful setting, presented by Southern Arizona Arts and Cultural Alliance.
The free series features an eclectic line-up this summer of talented jazz musicians, performing one-of-a-kind shows in a garden courtyard. Acts include local and world-renowned musicians, playing everything from piano to Latin jazz.
The summer concerts returned on a new night and offer an evening of upbeat music for all ages. Attendees can enjoy front-stage seating or dancing to musical beats, with shows occurring alternating Saturdays at 7 p.m., from now to Aug. 27.
Concert-goers are encouraged to bring chairs and blankets to enjoy the free performances in comfort.
Other upcoming performances include the classic jazz stylings of Raw Material with Glenn Gross on July 30, piano jazz/fusion by Larry Redhouse on Aug. 13, and Latin jazz by Tesoro on Aug. 27.
