'Musical Magic for Kids' concerts at new OV venue
An eighth season of the Musical Magic for Kids interactive concert series returns to Oro Valley this Saturday, Oct. 10, at its new location, the Music and Dance Academy of Oro Valley on the southeast corner of Magee and Oracle.
Musical Magic for Kids is presented by the Southern Arizona Arts & Cultural Alliance and sponsored by the Town of Oro Valley. Concerts are free, with donations accepted.
Musical Magic for Kids is a "spectacular and unique program" bringing together music, instrumentation, theater and dance through hands-on interaction with both the performers and their instruments, a release said.
"Do not miss this unique opportunity to experience the arts together as a family," the release continued.
This year's schedule is:
Oct. 10 – "Ralph's Secret Weapon." A bassoon quartet with Cassandra Bendickson, Rebecca Cain, Jessica Campbell and Lisa Renteria;
Nov. 21 — "Dancing with Royalty." Dance, guitar and bass with Claire Hancock, Michael Lich and Robert Matheson;
Jan. 9 — "Dancing Carnival of the Animals ." Dance with Claire Hancock.
Feb. 13 — "The International Adventures of Aunt Rhody and Uncle Bob." A string trio with Catherine Simmons, Jose Reyes and Garrick Woods;
April 3 — "Moving Body in Rhythm." Percussion and dance with Claire Hancock and Drew Andreatta.
