Jo Holt - The Explorer: Candidates

Jo Holt democrat

Jo M. Holt is a retired research biochemist who worked at the University of Arizona in the 1980s during which time her son was born at Tucson Medical Center. Her family then moved to St. Louis where she continued her career at Washington University. As a research biochemist, Jo spent decades running research laboratories. In this highly competitive environment, she was required to develop and stick to budgets, sell ideas, solve complex problems, complete projects and deliver results.

In 2007, Jo retired to Arizona to be the caregiver for her husband Gary when he was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer's. Watching Gary fade away was the hardest thing Jo has ever done.

Jo is running for State Senate because she believes the Legislature should be doing what it can for the people of Arizona. It should be helping them get jobs, access quality public education, and receive healthcare especially during these times of joblessness and underemployment. The Legislature should not spend precious time on any legislation that is not helping Arizonans build a better life for themselves and their families.

She is a pragmatist who understands bad things happen to people. But, they shouldn't happen because of bad policy or self-serving manipulation by those in power. Jo believes rational thinking and the sharing of ideas need to be returned to the Arizona Legislature. She is ready to roll up her sleeves and work for the best interests of ALL the people of Arizona. She believes Arizona is worth fighting for and wants to fight for YOU!
