The Arizona Citizens Clean Elections Commission will host a debate for House of Representative and Senate candidates in Legislative District 9 at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 4. The debate will be at the Pima Community College Downtown Campus located at 1255 N. Stone Avenue in Tucson.
Legislative District 9 is based in Pima County and includes Casas Adobes, Catalina Foothills and Flowing Wells along with part of Marana and Tucson.
Candidates who participate in Clean Elections to run for office are required to attend one debate in the general election unless they are running unopposed. Candidates who are not running with Clean Elections funding are allowed to join the debate, but their attendance is optional.
The 2012 general election will take place Nov. 6. Early voting begins Oct. 11.
Congressional District 1 Debate
Candidates for Arizona’s First Congressional District seat in the U.S. House come will be in Northwest Tucson for a debate on Oct. 8.
Republican Jonathan Paton and Democrat Ann Kirkpatrick and Libertarian Kim Allen have confirmed attendance.
District 1, reconfigured after the 2010 Census, encompasses the towns of Marana and Oro Valley, and heads north, surrounding the Phoenix valley, taking in Flagstaff and covering to the Utah line. There is no incumbent in the field.
The debate will be be held Monday, Oct. 8, at the Legacy Traditional School, located at 3500 W. Cortaro Farms Rd.
Doors open at 5:30 p.m. The debate will begin at 6 p.m. and run through 7:30 p.m., with a meet and greet to be held through 8 p.m.
The public is encouraged to attend, and parking is limited.
