On the afternoon of September 10, Detectives with the Community Response Unit (CRU) that are a part of the Pima County Sheriff’s Department Narcotics and Special Investigation Section (NSIS), began an investigation regarding several complaints of suspicious activity at a residence.
When detectives arrived at a home in the 8800 block of N. Marathon Drive, they attempted to talk to the residents. While at the home, they noticed a man exiting a back door and attempting to leave the property. He was quickly detained and questioned about the activity at the home. Through the course of the investigation a warrant was obtained and executed at the residence. Live marijuana plants in various stages of growth were confiscated as evidence and the marijuana growing operation was dismantled.
While the detectives were on scene, the suspect complained he was feeling ill and was transported to the hospital for medical treatment. The man will face charges of Illegally Processing or Producing Marijuana and of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia once he is released from the hospital.
