On July 31, detectives from the Tucson Police Department Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Unit took note of an advertisement, which indicated that an adult male was looking for younger female companionship.

On August 1, the detectives began communicating with the male, who had posted the advertisement. During their communications, the male believed that he was interacting with an underage female. He specifically solicited the fictitious underage female to participate in sexual acts and sent “her” explicit photographs. As a result of the communication between the male and a detective, who was pretending to be the fictitious underage female, a meeting was scheduled.

On the afternoon of August 8, the male suspect arrived for the pre-arranged meeting, expecting to encounter the underage female with whom he believed he had been interacting. Instead, Tucson Police Department ICAC Unit detectives and personnel from the United States Marshal’s Service detained him and took him into custody.

He was identified as Thomas Michael Sherlock, 57. Ultimately, Mr. Sherlock was charged with 1 count of Aggravated Luring of a Minor for Sexual Exploitation and 1 count of Attempted Sexual Conduct with a Minor, both felony offenses. He was transported and booked into the Pima County Jail.
