On April 3, an 8-year-old boy was struck by a vehicle while riding his bike at the intersection of North Shannon Road and West Curtis Road. The suspect had fled the scene. The boy was crossing at the crosswalk with the HAWK lights activated, he was traveling with an adult, and wearing a helmet.

On April 23, the Pima County Sheriff’s Auxiliary Volunteers (SAVs), Chief Deputy Chris Nanos, and the Pima County Department of Transportation, presented a new bicycle and helmet to the 8-year-old boy.

Ajo Bikes sponsored a new bike for the victim (Rene) and the SAVs purchased three bicycles for Rene’s siblings.

The most updated information on a potential suspect is for the suspect vehicle, which is believed to have been a white, newer model, two door coupe.

The Sheriff’s Department is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect. Anyone with further information is urged to call 9-1-1 or 88-CRIME.
