In the very early morning hours of Dec. 29, detectives of the Tucson Police Department, Organized Crime/Arson Unit responded to assist with an investigation of a fire that occurred at the Circle K Store located at 3970 N. Flowing Wells.
The clerk, Granville Stinnette, 27, was working at the time of the fire. On the evening of Dec. 28, officers had responded to a bomb threat at the same store. It has not yet been determined if the bomb threat and fire were related. However, detectives continued their investigation into both incidents, concluding that the fire was arson.
Investigators interviewed Stinnette during the initial investigation. Ultimately, the detectives developed probable cause to arrest Stinnette in relation to the arson incident.
On Jan. 10, Organized Crime/Arson detectives assisted by Operation Division West patrol officers were able to locate Stinnette and take him into custody.
He was arrested and charged with 1 count of Arson of a Structure, a felony offense. He was transported and booked into the Pima County Jail.
