Trip in a day: Skydiving adventure

For those adrenaline junkies at least 18 years of age, Skydive AZ, located in Eloy, presents the most thrilling way to see the Sonoran Desert at 13,000 feet. With the largest drop zone in the world, first-time skydivers will freefall for one minute before parachuting down with an instructor. As the coaching and training ground for many World and National Champions, Skydive AZ suggests making reservations ahead of time by calling (877) 313-JUMP. Prices vary from weekends ($199) and weekdays ($189), or depending on student/military status ($179 with ID). Discount rates are available for groups.

Trip in a day: San Xavier Mission

Just nine miles south of downtown Tucson, the San Xavier del Bac Mission, originally founded in 1692, allows visitors to experience authentic 18th century art and Spanish Colonial architecture. With a fascinating past deeply intertwined with Mexican and American history, the Mission continues in its original purpose as a church, now with a school and convent attached. There is also a free museum open 8:30am-4:30pm daily at the site to further illustrate and explain the church’s rich story.
