Sun City Oro Valley invites all the residents of Oro Valley to help support homeless veterans. Sun City is hosting the sixth-annual Sock Drive, which benefits the Homeless Veterans Program at the Tucson VA Hospital.

The drive began on Veterans Day and will continue until Dec. 15.

Last year the community donated more than 1,400 pair of socks, which sounds like a lot, but that amounts to only one pair of socks for each homeless veteran in Tucson.

Nurses at the VA tell us that a new pair of socks can keep a veteran from having foot problems.  They prefer new white tube socks (for men and women) as they fit any size feet, but appreciate all new sock donations.

Bring socks to Sun City Oro Valley Administration Office, located at 1565 E. Rancho Vistoso Blvd. Donations are accepted Monday through Friday or at the Social Hall seven days a week.

Place them in the “Veterans Socks Box” at either location.

For more information, call  Sandy Jasper at 818-1785.
