The first group of 26 Marana Citizen Patrol volunteers completed their police training last week and began aiding MPD officers with patrol. The Marana program is modeled after similar programs in Oro Valley and Pima County. Part of the funding for the MPD volunteer program comes from the federal Volunteer in Police Service program.
