The Children’s Museum Tucson is celebrating literacy during the month entire of September. The Museum will be featuring specialized programming with hands-on educational activities that focus on the importance of literacy.

Love of Literacy encompasses an entire month of literacy programming highlighted by a free, one-day literacy festival - Love of Literacy on Saturday, Sept. 28 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.  The Museum will offer free admission all day (10 a.m. to 5 p.m.), while the event, Love of Literacy, will take place between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. both inside the Museum as well in the courtyard and on the lawn along 6th Avenue.

Participating guest organizations for Love of Literacy include 9 Queens, Arizona Daily Star, Arizona Public Media, Bear Essential News, Ben’s Bells Project, Bookman’s Entertainment Exchange, Child and Family Resources, Inc., Literacy Connects, The Loft Cinema, Make Way for Books, Milk + Bookies, Pima County Public Library Bookmobile, Postal History Foundation, Reading Seed, Stories that Soar, Tucson Festival of Books, UA Bookstore, U of A Poetry Center and Worlds of Word.

Free admission for Love of Literacy is made possible through the financial support of our presenting sponsor, Citi.  Additional sponsors are Arizona Daily Star, Diamond Foundation, Rosemont Copper, Sharon Bronson of the Pima County Board of Supervisors and Target.

 Along with providing resources to the community, Children’s Museum Tucson is teaming up with Arizona Families, Barefoot Books and Usborne Books & More during the month of September to collect books for Reading Seed.  The Children’s Museum Tucson will be the drop off location for this Milk and Bookies book drive to support Reading Seed’s goal of providing every child the access to high-quality books.  New and gently used books will be collected from September 1st through Sept. 30.

Children’s Museum Tucson serves more than 164,000 children and families annually with fun, play-based interactive and hands-on learning experiences.

Regular admission is free for children under 12 months; $6 ages 1-18; $8 Adults; $6 Seniors. The Museum is located at 200 S. 6th Ave. in downtown Tucson.
