The Republican Club of Green Valley-Sahuarita, Quail Creek Republican Club and Tea Party of Green Valley are sponsoring a debate for the Republican candidates in the CD8 special election. The debate will be at the Madera Clubhouse, 2055 E. Quail Crossing Blvd., Green Valley. It starts at 6:30 p.m.
The Democratic Nucleus Club of Pima County hosts a forum with Pima County Recorder F. Ann Rodriguez. The forum will be at the Viscount Suite Hotel, 4855 E. Broadway from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
The Democrats host a bluegrass band fundraiser to benefit the party’s candidates. The entertainment event is at Sun City Mountain Vista Social Hall, 1495 W. Rancho Vistoso Blvd. in Oro Valley. It starts at 1 p.m. and goes until 2:45 p.m. Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door.
Free Thought Arizona presents a lecture by Paul Barby, “ACLU and Today’s Challenges.” The event is at the Duval Auditorium at University Medical Center, 1501 N. Campbell Ave. The lecture begins at 10 a.m. Parking is free.
Special Primary Election for Congressional District 8. Democrat Ron Barber is running unopposed, while Sen. Frank Antenori, Jesse Kelly, Martha McSally and Dave Sitton are seeking the Republican nomination.
General Election for the current Congressional District 8. Democrat Ron Barber and Green Party Candidate Charlie Manolakis will be running against the winner of the Republican Primary.
Just two months after the CD8 candidate takes office, the primary election for the new Congressional District 2 begins. Most of the old CD8 will become CD2. Oro Valley and Marana residents will be moved into the new Congressional District 1.
Besides voting for the U.S. President, one U.S. Senator from Arizona, and other measures, residents will be voting for the U.S. Representatives 9 Districts.
