The Arizona Game and Fish Department in Tucson will hold a public meeting 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, to hear comments about developing 2013 hunt recommendations for deer, bighorn sheep, mountain lions, and bears.

The meeting at the Game and Fish Tucson office, 555 N. Greasewood Road, will provide details about regional game survey data and hunt guidelines. Public comments will be taken about the management direction for particular Game Management Units.

“The meeting will allow us to meet with sportsmen and other members of the public and discuss the direction for the recommendations based on survey data, harvest rates and the hunt guidelines,” said Regional Supervisor Raul Vega of Game and Fish in Tucson. “We won’t be proposing permit numbers at this point as the final recommendations have not been made, but we will generally discuss the status of the unit. It’s a great way for people to stay informed and provide input into development of the recommendations.”

The public meetings will be hosted by wildlife biologists that are involved in the hunt recommendation process.

The final proposed draft of the deer, bighorn, mountain lion and bear hunt recommendations will be made available for public review at six regional informational open houses in early April. More information on the open house dates will be distributed as it becomes available.
