OVPD gets new grant-funded motorcycle
Oro Valley Police Department recently purchased a new BMW
R1200-RT-P police motorcycle using money it received from the
Arizona Governor's Office of Highway Safety. It will play a
proactive role in achieving the department's mission to reduce the
number of fatal and serious injury collisions through highly
visible, proactive traffic enforcement. That includes DUI and fatal
collision investigations, school bus stop sign and speed violation
enforcement, and occupant protection/seatbelt violation
enforcement. In addition, the new motorcycle will enable police to
rotate aging equipment at the end of its service life and reduce
operating costs associated with the motor unit.
