A surprise announcement was made today at the Oro Valley Aquatic Center’s Phase I Milestone Celebration on Oct. 5.

Following remarks from Mayor Satish Hiremath, MTCVB’s Director of Sports Development Vince Trinidad announced that the Town of Oro Valley has been selected to host the 2014 U.S. National Synchronized Swimming Championships. This five-day event will be held in April of 2014.

The Championship Sites Committee of United States Synchronized Swimming recommended the Town of Oro Valley host the event. This recommendation was accepted by Executive Director Terry Harper and confirmed by the Board of Directors.

Following the exciting news, Oro Valley Mayor Satish Hiremath (center), and fellow council members (from left to right) Brendan Burns, Mike Zinkin, Mary Snider and Joe Hornat made good on their promise to test out the new pool.
