May 6, 1993: The first edition of Oro Valley News is printed.

May 11, 1995: Oro Valley News becomes the Northwest Explorer and Oro Valley Explorer.

January 1, 1998: The Oro Valley Explorer is merged into The Northwest Explorer.

January 5, 2005: The newspaper drops “Northwest” from its name, beginning more coverage in the Catalina Foothills.

December 5, 2007: The Explorer officially announces Randy Miller as the new owner, and introduces Dave Perry, the current CEO of the Greater Oro Valley Chamber of Commerce, as editor and publisher.

September, 2011: Ryan Kedzierski is named Explorer publisher.

November, 2011: Thelma Grimes is named managing editor.

October, 2013: Jaime Hood is named general manager of The Explorer.
