At 2 p.m. Saturday, crews from Mountain Vista Fire District were dispatched to the 800 block of west Calle Casquilla for a 14-month-old female child who was found in the backyard pool.

Upon arrival of the crews the child was found with the parents and CPR was in progress.

The child was found unresponsive with a pulse and breathing very slowly on her own. The crews immediately transported the child via ambulance to University Medical Center for further care.

Officials of the Mountain Vista Fire District said even in the winter months our community must follow the ABC's of water safety.

A-Adult Supervision of children around the pool

B-Barriers, pool fences and gates that lock properly

C-Classes, CPR classes for adults and swimming lessons for children
