Northwest firefighters were called to the area of Twin Peaks Road and Oasis, just east of Interstate 10 at 5:21 a.m. Thursday morning this morning after several 9-1-1 calls were received about a truck and trailer on fire.
Crews arrived within 4 minutes to find a 24 foot trailer well involved in fire. The driver of the pick-up truck pulling the trailer was able to pull off of Twin Peaks Rd and exit the truck without injury.
The trailer was carrying $6,000 worth of Poore Brothers potato chips that were destined for local grocery stores. The trailer and computers in the trailer brought the total damages to approximately $12,000.
Twin Peaks eastbound was closed just under an hour during the extinguishment and overhaul process. Oasis in both directions was also closed.
A mechanical failure with a trailer tire was the cause of the fire.
