The Arizona Game and Fish Department Operation Game Thief is offering a $1,200 reward for information leading to an arrest in the case of a decapitated mule deer found off Interstate 10 east of Benson.
The deer was apparently killed over the Labor Day weekend. There was an archery deer season in progress, but it is unknown whether the killing is related to a hunt.
“Poaching is not hunting,” said Regional Supervisor Raul Vega of Game and Fish in Tucson. “Poachers are thieves stealing wildlife from the citizens of Arizona.”
Individuals with information about the case are urged to call Operation Game Thief at 1-800-352-0700, anonymously if need be, anytime seven days a week and reference OGT#12-001822. Information may also be provided on-line at http://www.azgfd.gov/ogt_form.shtml.
