In January, the Marana Middle School reported a possible child abuse to local authorities.
Deputies responded to the school for a student who stated he was afraid to go home to his abusive father and stepmother. The victim resides in the 12,000 blk. of North Derringer Road in Marana with his biological brother, his two stepsisters, and a half-sister.
The victim indicated he and his siblings were being physically abused and neglected.
On Feb. 2, after an extensive investigation, detectives from the Crimes Against
Children Unit arrested Federico Ballesteros, Jr., 38, on four counts of Child Abuse.
At this time, the investigation continues. The children are in the custody of Child Protective
