This morning at 9:13, deputies from the Foothills District of the Pima County Sheriff's Department responded to a serious collision at La Cholla Boulevard and Hospital Drive. Upon arrival, deputies found Myrna A. Arnett, 79, deceased from injuries sustained at the collision.
The Pima County Sheriff's Traffic Unit responded to further investigate. Officers determined that Michael Herrera, 20, was traveling northbound in a dark-colored four-door sedan on La Cholla. Arnett was driving her silver-colored sedan southbound on La Cholla when she stopped in the left-hand turn bay to turn onto Hospital Drive.
As Arnett turned left, Herrera collided with her vehicle, according to Deputy Dawn Barkman, a spokesperson for the PCSD.
Herrera was transported to the Trauma Center at University Medical Center for his injuries.
The investigation is ongoing.
