Second-graders muster up fun and fire safety

With the help of firefighter Jarrett Murray, second-grader Jeran
Gainer takes hold of a fire hose and sprays water at a cone during
the Northwest Fire/Rescue District’s annual Mini Muster fire-safety
exercises. Throughout October, firefighters are visiting 15
elementary schools and mixing fun and games with practical

course. Kids start in a bed, and at the sound of a smoke alarm
beep, they check a door for heat, jump through a window, and then
make their way over a pool of water on a plank.

During a bucket brigade team race, Gage Rasmussen tries to pull
a bucket filled with water out of one bin and take it to another at
Estes Elementary School in Marana.
