Marana Police Officer Brad Clifford and Sgt. Will Hess are teaming with Pima County Deputy Sergeants Joe Knipp and Terry Staten to ride in the Police Unity Tour on May 9.

The tour is a 250-mile bicycle ride beginning in Portsmouth, Va. and ending at the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington. Money raised brings about awareness for officers who have died in the line of duty and provide financial support for the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial.

Donations for Team Marana can be made at http://www.firstgiving.com/fundraiser/marana/police-unity-tour-viii-2013. The event’s official web site is http://www.policeunitytourviii.org/.

MPD and the Pima County Sheriff’s Department are hosting a Tip-A-Cop event at Texas Roadhouse (8450 N. Cracker Barrel Road) on March 1 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Officers assist wait staff and a portion of the proceeds goes toward funding for the Police Unity Tour.
