Jared Loughner is in a federal courtroom in Tucson today for the official sentencing hearing that will put him away for life without parole.
Loughner pleaded guilty in a deal, which means he avoided the death penalty for killing six, and injuring 13 people, including former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, on Jan. 8, 2011.
This will mark the first time victims of the shooting will face Loughner.
Giffords, along with husband Mark Kelly, attended the 10:30 a.m. hearing. Kelly spoke to Loughner, as Giffords stood by his side.
According to his attorney, Loughner is not expected to make a statement as proceedings continue.
