Election officials have 10 days to get all votes counted for the Nov. 6 election, and Secretary of State Ken Bennett said there are 602,334 early and provisional ballots that still have to be verified.

State law gives the counties 10 calendar days to verify and process the remaining early and provisional ballots. That gives them until the end of Friday, Nov. 16. A state canvass to certify official election results for federal, statewide and legislative races is scheduled for Dec. 3.

Voters who cast a “conditional provisional” ballot (individuals had insufficient identification when they went to vote at a polling place) have five business days, or until the end of Tuesday, Nov. 13, to return to their county elections office with proper ID.

In Pima County, reports of problems casting a ballot were high this election.

County election officials reported on Wednesday that they were still working to verify 54,541 early ballots, and 26,194 provisional ballots.
