Pima Community College is partnering with the Air Force to help active-duty and reserve personnel pursue their education online, no matter where they are stationed.
Through the General Education Mobile (GEM) program, PCC is offering more than one dozen online classes – from College Algebra to Microeconomic Principles to Elementary Spanish – that can fulfill the 15-hour Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) General Education course requirement needed for a CCAF Associate of Applied Science degree.
The College has created a webpage containing everything active-duty and reserve personnel need to know about the GEM program.
“We are proud to collaborate with the Air Force to help active-duty personnel and reservists further their education,” says Interim Chancellor Dr. Suzanne Miles. “The GEM portal is one of several ways that Pima gives back to those who have given so much to protect our freedoms.”
In September, PCC services for veterans and members of the military were ranked in the top 15 percent in higher education, making PCC a Military Friendly School for the fourth straight year. The College’s Veterans Center at Downtown Campus recently celebrated its first anniversary.
PCC also is participating in the Principles of Excellence Program, designed to ensure that military veterans, service members and their families receive high-quality academic advising as well as the best information about the cost of attending college.
