During the annual awards breakfast, the Marana Chamber of Commerce took time to honor longtime members and recognized small, mid-size and large businesses in the area.

The luncheon was held at the Highlands at Dove Mountain on Aug. 21. The annual event is held to honor local business owners, name new board members and show how the chamber continues to benefit the community year after year.

Winning the Small Business of the Year award was Mathnasium of Marana. Mathnasium has been working during the last four years to teach hundreds of children and adults realize they can learn math.

Mathnasium sponsors a Little League team each year and contributes to many other local charities and fundraisers, such as the Marana Food Bank and the Marana Broncos 5K run. It hosts the TriMathlon at their center each year, and also offer scholarships to the schools in the Marana Unified School District.

Winning the Mid-Size Business of the Year award was Spectrum Ina Road Auto Collision. Spectrum Ina Road Auto Collision is a family-owned, customer-oriented company focused on service and innovative technology.  The company is also dedicated to giving back to the community, according to the nomination.

Partnering with local high schools, Spectrum owner Javier Avalos gives students a “real life” glimpse of the dangers of texting or drinking while driving by showing them actual automobiles that have been destroyed in texting- or alcohol-related accidents.

Winning the Large Business of the Year award was Rosemont Copper. Since 2007, Rosemont Copper has spent $250 million across the Southern Arizona region in contributions, donations, sponsorships, and business interests. Rosemont Copper is one of the primary sponsors of the Town of Marana’s annual State of the Town event, along with sponsoring many other local programs.
